Lesson 6. Free Time Activities

 

Close your eyes and imagine a beautiful summer day. The sun is shining, there is a warm breeze, and you are free. What will you do? If you live near the ocean, you might try scuba diving.

If you become a scuba diver, you can experience the beautiful world beneath the sea. You can see colorful fish swim slowly by. You can also see strange underwater plants and interesting shells. Everything is different in this wonderful underwater world.

Scuba diving is not easy to learn. If you want to become a good scuba diver, you should take a class. In class you sill learn how to use the equipment and also learn about safety. Safety rules are very important for divers.

It is a good idea to go diving with a partner. Then in case of trouble there is someone to help you.

The scuba diver's equipment is very important. Of course the most important thing is air. He carries air in a tank on his back. To see underwater the diver needs a face mask and flashlight. To keep warm he needs a special rubber suit called a "wet suit." In his feet he wears long, thin rubber fins that help him swim faster.

Maybe you live far from the ocean. Have you thought about bicycle riding as a hobby ? Today more and more people are riding bicycles. Biking is a good outdoor exercise and helps keep you fit.
