Your Hobbies

 

Studying is very important but you can't study all the time. You need some free time. After all, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."

Free time activities and hobbies can be good for both your mind and your body. There are outdoor hobbies like camping, hiking, or fishing. There are indoor hobbies like building models and collecting stamps. Hobbies are lots of fun. Hobbies help people enjoy life.

Sports and exercises can be hobbies. When you get enough exercise, you feel better and have more energy. There are many ways to exercise. You can get up early in the morning and go running. You can play badminton or table tennis with friends. You can join a T'aekwondo class or the school soccer team.

Games are often hobbies, too. Paduk is a good example. It is a thinking game, and teaches you to plan. It also helps you understand people. Paduk is lots of fun and very interesting.

Collecting is probably the most popular of all hobbies. There are many kinds of collections. Very often people collect stamps or coins. But some people collect things like buttons or glass bottles. Others collect insects, rocks, and seashells.

Collectors learn a lot from their hobbies. They learn about science, history, and geography. For example, a stamp collection can teach you about the history of a country. Sometimes collections are worth a lot of money, too.

Some people have hobbies like playing the guitar or sketching. In your free time you can learn to play the piano or take a class in drawing. These hobbies will make your life richer. You will learn to enjoy the beautiful things in the world around you.

The way you spend your free time is important. Each hobby has its own special interest. Choose wisely. The right choice can make you a better, healthier, and happier person.

상호와 인숙이가 상미의 건강에 대해 걱정하고 있다.

 

Sang-ho : I'm worried about Sang-mi's health.

In-suk : What's wrong with her?

Sang-ho : She's always catching cold. She doesn't look healthy.

In-suk : She doesn't get enough exercise, does she?

Sang-ho : No, she always watches TV in her free time.

In-suk : I have an idea! Let's ask her to join our hiking club.

Sang-ho : Yes, let's!

 

Dialogue 2

마이크와 상호가 바둑 경기의 결과에 대해 이야기하고 있다.

 

Mike : Who won the paduk game?

Sang-ho : Ch'ang-su, of course. He always wins. Maybe when he grows up, he will be a champion.

Mike : I'd like to learn to play.

Sang-ho : Shall I teach you?

Mike : Could you? That would be great.

Sang-ho : Sure, I'd like to.

Mike : When can we start?

Sang-ho : How about tomorrow?

Mike : OK. See you then.
