LESSON 4. In-su's Diary
Reading
In-su's Diary
Saturday, May 22. Rainy
I came home early and turned on the TV. The news was on. There was a big traffic accident. A truck crossed the center line, and ran into a car. The car driver was killed and some other people were taken to the hospital.
How could he drive like that? I felt very sad to see it. When I grow up, I will be a good driver. I will drive safely and obey the traffic rules.
Wednesday, May 26. Windy
In the afternoon Mike and I went to T'aekwondo class together. This was his first class. So his belt was white.
Mike was introduced to the class. He was the only American in our class. All the members of the class tried to speak to him in English. Mike tried to answer in Korean. Everyone made mistakes and we all laughed.
In T'aekwondo class Mike will learn T'aekwondo and Korean at the same time. And maybe we will learn some English from him. Our T'aekwondo class will be fun.
Sunday, May 30. Fine
My cousin In-a and I went to the 63 Building this morning. From the 59th floor we could see far away. On a very clear day you can see the sea near Inch'ŏn.
We couldn't see that far, but we could see all of Seoul. It was very pretty. I looked for our apartment building, but I couldn't find it.
After lunch we walked along the Han River. Many people were walking and riding bicycles beside the river. Many others were playing games. I love to go to Riverside Park.
Dialogue 1
상호와 인숙이가 길을 건너려고 하고 있다.
Sang-ho : Let's cross the street here.
In-suk : We should cross at the crosswalk.
Sang-ho : It doesn't matter at all.
Come on. Let's not waste time.
In-suk : Be careful!
Sang-ho : What's wrong?
In-suk : That car almost hit you.
Dialogue 2
마이크가 태권도 선생님과 함께 도장을 나오고 있다.
Mike : Let me introduce myself.
My name is Mike Smith. I'm from New York.
Teacher : Hello, Mike. How was the class? Was it interesting?
Mike : Yes, it was. I really want to learn T'aekwondo and I'm excited about this class.
Teacher : You did well today. I think you learned a lot.
Mike : Thank you for helping me.
