Spring in My Country

 

My name is Kim Su-mi. I live in a small village in Kangwon-do. We have a long cold winter, so we are happy when spring comes.

It's March now. We still have some snow, but the warm spring sun will melt it soon.

In spring everything is new. The trees and fields turn green. The flowers begin to grow.

The new school year begins in spring. I see my old friends and meet new classmates. I like spring.

 

Hello. My name is David Williams. I live in Auckland, New Zealand.

In Auckland spring comes in September. Is that a surprise? You see, my country is in the south, and the seasons are different from yours.

 

It is windy in spring. My father and I often go sailing. Our boat is small, but it is fast. Sometimes we sail in races.

Maybe you can come to New Zealand some day and watch a boat race.

 

Hi, my name is Ann Green. I live in Oxnard, California. It is not far from L.A.

Oxnard is a pretty city on the Pacific Ocean. Spring in Oxnard is nice and warm. There are many vegetable farms near Oxnard. Even in winter the fields are green.

 

In fact the weather here is usually warm. So winter is not very different from spring.

Many people come from cold places to enjoy our warm weather. I hope you can visit Oxnard sometime. Come and enjoy the California sunshine anytime.
